RTCM Publishes New Standard for MMS

Smarter Seas - Improving Safety & Connectivity with Motion Detecting Unit & Maritime Messaging Service

Presented by Kjærulf Pedersen A/S & Sternula

The maritime industry is evolving – and so should your ship’s safety and communication systems. Join us for a joint webinar where two leading innovators unveil cutting-edge technologies set to transform how we navigate and connect at sea.

Featuring:

The Motion Detecting Unit (MDU)

Maritime Messaging Service (MMS)

Presented by Kjærulf Pedersen, the MDU is a real-time motion analytics system that helps detect dangerous roll patterns, like parametric and resonance roll before they lead to cargo loss. As it digitizes and analyzes ship movement in real time, MDU provides predictive insights that can prevent accidents and protect cargo in even the roughest seas.

Presented by Sternula, the MMS is a messaging component that allows authorized maritime stakeholders to send and receive messages in an efficient, reliable, and seamless manner within the Maritime Connectivity Platform (MCP). It is defined in the RTCM 13900.0 standard and recommended by the IALA Guideline G1117 to be used together with AIS 2.0 (VDES). MMS solves problems of the current maritime wireless data communication system.

What You'll Learn:

  • The value of digitizing ship motion. To improve and react based on accurate live data and where to find value with that knowledge
  • How MMS ensures seamless and trusted digital communication across maritime ecosystems
  • Real-world use cases improving safety and efficiency at sea
  • How to implement both technologies to future-proof your fleet – from navigation safety to digital infrastructure

Whether you’re focused on safety, connectivity, or digital modernization, this webinar delivers actionable insight from two forward-thinking providers.
